Keramiktrommeln mit zentralen, ge-
wölbten Klangkammern wurden in
Südperu um die Jahrtausendwende
hergestellt. Zu den am aufwändigs-
ten gearbeiteten gehören die Trom-
meln im Nazca-Stil. Eine beliebte Form
war die einer dickleibigen Figur, die
in die Form des Instruments einge-
arbeitet war.

Ceramic drums with central, bulging
sounding chambers were made in
southern Peru at the turn of the first
millennium. Among the most elabora-
tely finished are those of Nazca style.
A favoured form was one in which a
fat-bodied figure worked into the sha-
pe of the instrument.
